Please involve yourself and get the people around you involved with the Association. We need your support!

A Greeting Message from the President in 2007
Happy new year!! I have been serving for you at this post for a year now. During 2006, I have seen two things that make me very grateful and proud: (1) more volunteers involved with the association service to the community, and (2) great accomplishments by the association. Last year, we promised to make efforts to increase the organization's visibility in both the scientific community and the Chinese American community since the Association has many top-notched environmental professionals and we should be able to provide the service to the community. Thank you for your support in 2006, we are able to accomplish a lot. Here are some highlights:
Participated in six Radio shows featuring special guests recommended from our association at local Chinese Radio Stations AM1300/1600 and AM1370. The show not only provided service to the local Chinese community, but also increased the public awareness about our association and our mission.
Co-hosted the 2006 Asian American Environmental Symposium at UCLA, attended by about 130 people. It was very successful. The conference featured four sessions: water, land use, environmental leadership, and increasing environmental issues in China. The conference is a very effective way to reach out the future environmental professional (today's college students) community. For more information about the conference, log on www.environmentalasian.org .
Participated in CESASC Technical Symposium. Out association co-hosted the Environmental Session with the platform speakers and session co-chairman.
Awarded four college student scholarship of a total amount of $1000 in a Poster Cometetion for a Best Research Paper.
Participated in waste oil exchange program at local Chinese community.
Upgraded Association website. Please check it out at www.sccaepa.org .
New Mission Statement of the Association.
Created an Association new logo.
Updated Association contact list (email distribution list).
Passed the resolution on Student Scholarship Fund.

A Greeting Message from the President in 2006
Hello, my name is Yue Rong, (a.k.a. "Y.R."). I have the honor and privilege to serve you as the president of the Association governing board for the next two years (2006-2007). I am now a program manager at the California Regional Water Quality Control Board, Los Angeles Region, one of the CalEPA branches, working on groundwater pollution remediation and prevention.
I have been working in academic and
regulatory environmental field for more than 20 years (for my bio, please go to "google.com" and type out my name).
This year, the governing board will make efforts to increase the organization's visibility in both the scientific community and the Chinese American community. The association has many top-notched environmental professionals. We should be able to provide the service to the environmental professional community and the local Chinese community and be part of them.
Thank you for all of your support in the past, the Association is now in good shape. The association is a non-profit and volunteer-based organization. The success of the association is largely dependant upon each volunteer's efforts, dedication, involvement, and contributions. Please involve yourself and get the people around you involved with the Association. The Association will not be successful without volunteers' support. We want to be recognized and then we must participate in some activities. We need your support!
As an old Chinese saying: "contribute money if you have it, contribute energy if you do not have it.", the key to success of the Association is in your hands now. Please do care about the communities you work and live in by participating the Association's activities.
On behalf of the board, I promise you exciting and fruitful years to come with the Association. The board now calls for volunteers for the following activities:
- Steering committee for preparing a conference of environmental education to the Chinese community and college students community
- Website upgrade
- Association contact list update
- Designing a new logo for the Association
- Chinese radio show guest (AM1300/1600) and public events (subject: environmental issues, water resources, water pollution and prevention)
- The board is looking for a volunteer position of "Director at Large", an advisory and none voting member of the board.
Please be a volunteer. Make a difference. If you are interested in any of the above, please contact me or any board members of the Association. Also check out our webpage at www.sccaepa.org . Thank you! Hope you have a prosperous year ahead!
